- The interior of the case bears the Asprey London maker's stamp in gold. Ā The case hardware is brass. The cover of the case features a dedication monogram: Ā To A.G.G. 1980. (The set was made c. 1970s.) The set is also accompanied by a brass plaque inscribed: Ā Gordon Greenwood With Gratitude From The Trustees of H.R.H. The Duke of Edinburgh's Commonwealth Study Conferences (U.K. Fund) May 1980. His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh was the husband of Queen Elizabeth II and the chess set is from the Gordon Greenwood estate.
