The famed film director Yasujiro Ozu is working on his first color film, Equinox Flower. It would feature what would go on to become as famous as the other actors in his films, the red kettle.Ā
The red kettle that Ozu himself went to pick out and buy. The kettle that the director loved so much, he took it home after production was finished.Ā
Ozuās signature camera position was low on the floor, to put you on the tatami floor with the characters. To the man for whom visual composition was practically another character, every little piece had significance.Ā
And there it is, the red kettle, placed lovingly by the director to radiate its bright warmth from its little corner.Ā
